Electrolysis (Epilation) works by passing a small amount of energy into the hair follicle through a very fine needle. This produces heat, which destroys the cells that produce the hair at the base of the follicle. More than one treatment will be necessary since hair follicles have a specific hair growth cycle.

For hair removal, treatments will be approximately fourteen days apart for the first three to four months. After this time a reduction in the amount of hair is noticed and time in between treatments is reduced dramatically to every three to four weeks. Treatment times vary from as little 15mins per session, depending on the size of area and the location for treatment.

Electrolysis has been used safely and effectively for 125 years, with a low risk of side effects. All premises where electrolysis is carried out are required to be registered with the Local Authority, whose Department of Environment Health Inspectors enforce rigid standards of hygiene and sterility.

The treatment is conducted by highly skilled Electrolygists who are all registered with the local Health Authority and the British Institute and Association of Electrolysis.
